Department of Civil Engineering

Civil Engineering

The Department of Civil Engineering was established in 2010 with an initial intake of 60 students, with a vision to impart quality education and develop competent civil engineers capable of contributing to the development of modern infrastructure and society. With a commitment to academic excellence, research, innovation, and sustainable development, the department has steadily expanded its academic and research activities over the years.

In 2014, the department introduced the M.Tech. programme in Structural Engineering, providing students with advanced knowledge and specialized skills in structural analysis, design, and emerging technologies in the field of civil engineering.

The department offers strong academic exposure across major domains of Civil Engineering, including Structural Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, and Construction Management. Students are equipped with a balanced combination of theoretical knowledge, practical skills, laboratory experience, and industry exposure to meet the evolving demands of the profession.

A significant milestone in the department’s journey was the attainment of NBA accreditation in 2022, reflecting its commitment to outcome-based education, quality teaching-learning practices, and continuous improvement. Further strengthening its research capabilities, the department was sanctioned as a Research Centre for a period of three years from 2025, providing an enhanced platform for faculty and scholars to undertake innovative and impactful research.

The department actively contributes to institutional quality initiatives such as NBA, NAAC, NIRF and various industry-linked programmes, ensuring continuous improvement and alignment with national and global standards in engineering education.

Beyond academics, the department regularly organizes Faculty Development Programmes (FDPs), national seminars, technical fests, workshops, conferences, guest lectures, and industrial visits, providing valuable opportunities for knowledge sharing, innovation, skill development, and professional growth. Strong industry–academia collaboration further enables students and faculty to gain practical insights and engage with contemporary engineering practices.

With highly qualified and dedicated faculty, state-of-the-art laboratories, modern infrastructure, and a strong emphasis on research and innovation, the Department of Civil Engineering remains committed to nurturing competent and socially responsible engineers who can contribute meaningfully to sustainable infrastructure development, environmental management, technological advancement, and the overall progress of society.
