Note: Dates, fees and rules change every year. Treat this as a roadmap and confirm every detail on the official AP EAPCET counselling website before acting.
Step 1: Qualify in AP EAPCET and download your rank card
Admission to most B.Tech seats in Andhra Pradesh is based on your AP EAPCET rank. Keep your rank card, hall ticket and Intermediate marks memo safely saved in digital and printed form.
Step 2: Register for web counselling
Register on the official counselling portal using your hall ticket and rank details, and pay the processing fee online. Use a mobile number and email you will actively check, because all allotment updates are sent there.
Step 3: Certificate verification
Verification is conducted as per the official schedule. Keep these documents ready (the official notification has the final list):
- AP EAPCET rank card and hall ticket
- Class X and Intermediate marks memos
- Transfer certificate and study certificates
- Caste / income certificates, if claiming reservation or fee reimbursement
- Aadhaar card and passport-size photographs
Step 4: Enter web options the smart way
Web options are where most students lose seats. Each college has a code; for KHIT it is KHIT. Follow these rules:
- Decide your priority: branch first, college first, or location first, and stay consistent.
- Enter many options: allotment follows your order, so include ambitious, realistic and safe choices.
- Check trends: review previous years’ closing ranks for each branch. KHIT’s eligibility and ranks page is a good starting point.
- Research the college: compare accreditation, placements and faculty (see our engineering college checklist).
- Save and print your option list before the deadline.
Step 5: Seat allotment
When results are released, download your allotment order. If you are satisfied, proceed to reporting. If you are not, check whether the official process allows you to improve your option in later phases, and keep your documents ready.
Step 6: Report to the college and complete enrolment
Take your allotment order and original documents to the college, pay the fees and complete enrolment. KHIT’s how to apply page explains the on-campus process, and the fee structure and scholarships pages help you plan costs.
Category-B and NRI admissions
If you did not get a convenience seat through counselling, Category-B is another route, subject to government rules. KHIT publishes separate pages for Category-B Non-NRI / Unfilled NRI and NRI / NRI Sponsored admissions.
Five mistakes to avoid
- Entering too few options and missing a seat altogether
- Choosing a branch only because friends chose it
- Ignoring the college’s accreditation and placement record
- Missing certificate verification or reporting deadlines
- Relying on forums or agents instead of the official notification
