CSE Flipped Cass rooms

Innovations by the Faculty – Pedagogical Initiatives

KHIT is implementing Outcome-Based Education (OBE)

OBE is a student-centric teaching-learning methodology in which the course delivery and assessment are planned to achieve the stated objectives and outcomes. To accomplish these, faculty members use a variety of methods such as lectures, tutorials, assignments, remedial classes, quizzes, presentations, lab work, and project-based learning.
  1. Title of the Initiative: Flipped Classrooms
  2. Goal: To enhance student higher-order learning by reversing the traditional classroom model and focusing class time on student understanding rather than lectures.
  3. Context: The flipped classroom, implemented within a blended learning environment, allows students to access lecture videos and handouts beforehand and engage in active learning (discussions, group work, assignments) during classroom sessions.
  • Practice: The department has actively used the flipped classroom model, especially since the pandemic, encouraging more collaborative and discussion-oriented interactions between students and faculty.
The following are the steps involved in implementation of flipped classroom methodology in our department:
  • Students are instructed to enroll in the Google Classroom for each subject in the semester through a link shared by the concerned class teacher.

  • Concerned course faculty post instructions, lecture material, and videos in Google Classroom. Students are instructed to go through the same. After each session, students must submit quizzes in Google Classroom. Responses are recorded and graded. Students are encouraged to engage in discussions during in-person classes.
  • Faculty members hold virtual class meetings through Google Meet, which is integrated with the LMS.
  • Assignments are disseminated through LMS.
  • After completion of each unit, students are required to submit the assignment for each course.
  1. Evidence of success:
  • Table 5.6a: Evidence of success
BatchGraduation Percentage
2020-202479.6%
2019-202341.6%
2018-202264.9%
  1. The academic sessions during the formative stages of graduation were significantly affected for the 2019-2023 and 2020-2024 batches due to the pandemic.
  2. The academic rigor was sustained during the course period through the implementation of flipped classroom pedagogy.
